- Interviews with local passers-by who use the park
update
I interviewed a few people in Regent’s Park last Friday. Most of them were women. The responses to what kind of behaviour would make them feel uncomfortable in the park centred on too much noise, some young people, and unclean conditions. One of the mothers with her children mentioned that some offensive behaviour would also make her feel uncomfortable and I asked her if it was unsafe. She said it was mainly because it was happening and she wanted to help but was worried about her own safety, so she would be confused as to whether she should help or not. Both men interviewed felt more difficult answering questions, mainly about uncleanliness and noise, but they didn’t feel it mattered much. However, the interviewers were asked if they would come back to the park again and they both chose yes because it was convenient. One of the men said that if this area was excessively noisy or unclean she would choose another part of the park, after all, Regent’s Park is huge.
